5 Months

Benton is constantly rolling and smiling. He loves exploring new things and really studies everything. We've been going to Mommy and Me yoga and spending more time outside now that it's cooler. I cannot get enough of this precious boy.

My baby boy is two months old today. His hair is really starting to grow and he coos and gives the sweetest smiles. He really enjoys the fact that Casey and I are constantly singing to him--something that one day he may think is embarrassing. Although it seems impossible, we love him more each day.

I can't get enough of him. I'm constantly overjoyed by his presence in my life.

Seven Weeks Old

Benton is seven weeks old today.  He has been smiling constantly and growing like crazy.  He has the cutest new layer of hair on his head that I can't stop rubbing.  My favorite things to do with him are taking baths and reading him stories.  I am treasuring every minute with him. Last week we went to visit Casey's parents and our best friends, Charlie, Tia, and their sweet baby girl Juniper came.  I had some stress about staying away from home for four nights but Benton did great.  We had a wonderful time relaxing at the river and spending quality time with some of our favorite people.  Here are some highlights:

Benton and his papa.

Being measured like the big kids; he'll appreciate it one day.

First trip to Heston's distillery to try some good old West Virginia moonshine.  Ended up with wine margaritas, beer, and a  free meat, cheese, and fruit platter too.

Back to Heston's with Casey's parents.

6 weeks and 2 days.

Our sweet boy is almost five weeks old and continues to get more and more entertaining. I can't get enough of his funny faces and antics. Watching him grow and change is amazing.

I can't believe my little bun is three weeks old but, at the same time, I cannot remember life without him.  We got out of the house a lot more this week.  My mom and I took him to Cumberland to spend time with both of his great-grandmas.  He slept for the entire hour and a half car ride there and back; as long as music is playing in the car, he is very content.  It was amazing to see my grandmothers make over my sweet little boy so much.  Casey and I had a little date Saturday night and my parents watched Benton.  It was nice to get out and crazy how much I missed him even though we were gone for less than two hours.  My heart is very full.

On Mother's Day

I could not be prouder to be this sweet angel's mom. Watching him grow just over the past two weeks has been amazing. He already has such a personality and is bringing us so much joy. I love him more than anything.

Benton was born on April 26.  I was five days overdue and went in for a non-stress test, only to find that he was breech. I was several centimeters dilated and had been contracting for a week.  We went in that night to the hospital and they tried to turn him.  The painful process lasted about thirty minutes then they determined I would have to have a c-section.  Although the process was VERY different than the natural birth I had prepared for and envisioned, everything worked out wonderfully.  My 8 lb. 9 oz. (bigger than expected!) baby boy was born healthy and really is all that matters.  He is ten days old today and here are some highlights of his first week and a half:

"Due Date"

Today was my due date. I didn't expect to be one of the 5% that has their baby on that day. I'm still being patient. This morning we went to the flea market then took Cooper on a long walk in the park. Casey made me spicy buffalo chicken dip and I drank lots of pineapple juice. I'm just trying to help you out Benton but I know you'll come when you're ready.

In other news, our canoe was stolen today. It was tied to a tree on our river property. It's sad when you can't trust people.

39 weeks

The anticipation is killing me. I'm not feeling particularly impatient but the unknowns about when and how he'll get here keep me on edge. This weekend was full of swimming, walking and yoga. After any exercise Benton moves around so much it feels like he is trying to break out. Can't wait to see his face!

38 Weeks

We had our good friend Seth to take some maternity pictures last week.  This little baby boy will be here before we know it.  I will miss my bump, all the little movements throughout the day, and being pregnant in general but seeing his face and having him here with us will surely top that. I can't wait to hold him in my arms.

Benton got some presents in the mail from our best friends, Charlie and Tia. This little record player will get a lot of use.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

This is a picture of Casey and me from last weekend (34 weeks).  Today I'm 35 weeks pregnant.  I cannot believe how the time is flying.  As much as I can't wait to meet my baby boy, I really enjoy being pregnant and will miss this special time with him.  Last night we went to see our friends Herb and Hanson play at the Blue Moon.  They were wonderful and Benton danced most of the show.  Some of our friends got to feel him move and were so excited.  I am treasuring every day.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Both of Benton's grandmas made him a quilt. This baby is going to be so loved by so many people. I cannot stop nesting but the results are an immaculate home and a room ready for our precious baby boy. 39 more days until my due date.

Baby Shower

Although this baby shower was thrown for Benton and me two weeks ago, I just got a few pictures (we barely took any).  It was a wonderful time and my best girl Michelle put so much love into it.  It's overwhelming to see how much people love you and your unborn child.
